6200LB Super Modified 2WD Trucks


Two Wheel Drive Trucks– Truck body, 6200 pound, 575 cid limit, turbocharged or supercharged engines, alcohol fuel, 18.4 x 16.1 tire, 30” drawbar.  These trucks can be seen on grand national stages for the NTPA as well as winter seasonal events.  They are a true fan favorite.

In a season filled with grit, determination, and roaring engines, Daryn Willson emerged as the uncontested champion of the Dragon Motorsports 2WD Truck Class for the 2023 season. With an outstanding performance throughout the competition, Willson left an indelible mark on the track, securing victories in key events that ultimately propelled him to the top.

The season kicked off for Daryn with a third-place finish at the Honky Tonk 300.  Coming up short to his Mom, Crystal, who won the first points pull and came up a bit short behind hometown puller David Carlton and his Breathe Easy 2 truck.  Daryn took that 3rd place finish and began looking to the next event in Craigsville Virginia.

The next points event was an electrifying win at Craigsville, VA, where Willson showcased not only his skillful driving but also the impressive capabilities of his 2WD truck. This early triumph set the tone for what would be a remarkable campaign.

The Victoria, VA event witnessed another stellar performance from Willson as he navigated the challenging course with precision and speed, securing yet another victory. His consistent success on different terrains showcased his versatility as a driver and the well-tuned machine at his disposal.

However, the highlight of the season for Daryn Willson undoubtedly came when the Dragon Motorsports series made its way to his hometown in LaPlata, MD. In front of family, friends, and a cheering local crowd, Willson delivered a stunning performance that not only secured a crucial win but also created a memorable moment for the community. The victory on home soil added a special touch to his title campaign.  Before the pull Daryn hopped in a skid steer and said let me just put this jersey wall here to protect our video crew.  Darn and all their crew had this track looking and hooking right.  One of the track crew told me they hadn’t seen a crowd like that since they were teenagers 20 some odd years ago.  

Millers Tavern, VA, served as the final battleground, and Daryn Willson proved once again that he was a force to be reckoned with. His strategic driving and unwavering focus led to yet another triumph, solidifying his claim to the Dragon Motorsports 2WD Truck Class championship for the 2023 season.

During his championship night speech, Daryn Willson took a moment to express his gratitude to his sponsors, whose support played a pivotal role in his success. Willson also acknowledged the unwavering support of his family, with a special mention to his Mom Crystal, and Dad Steve. The entire Willson family, including other relatives who contributed to the effort, was instrumental in helping Daryn pull off a title-winning season. 

As the checkered flag waved at the conclusion of the 2023 Dragon Motorsports season, Daryn Willson stood tall as the 2WD Truck Class champion. His journey was marked by triumphs, challenges, and the unyielding support of those around him. The 2023 season for Daryn Willson will be etched in the annals of motorsports history as a testament to skill, perseverance, and the power of family in the pursuit of victory.
