How About we get some discussion started for some rule changes/suggestions for the upcoming pulling season.  This will be helpful when we have our meeting in november.

We'll start:  1.  change turbo to stock out of the box 3 LM-466, with a $500 buy out.   2. elimininate speed limit.  3. Leave all other rules alone.

Thank you

Becky and Dave

I myself would like to see the speed limit gone. It takes more pressure off me.

I would vote for no speed limit the speed limit takes the fun out of it. Allen

I think we need to run a different center section, you all are going to find the 3lm center section will not live when running a big gear. I went through three this year and three the year before. Why not run a box charger maybe a s300, or something with a better bearing in the center section. Just an idea! Billy

We have no Ideal how a "top of the line 3lm holds up" but both our stock 3lm`s have been holding up for years !   That just our experience and why we made the suggestion.

They don't, which is why I brought it up. We ran no speed twice this year, and each time I wiped the thrust bearing out. You mentioned no speed limit is why I brought it up. Your "stock" 3lm is living right now under a speed limit, but if you turn it loose it's not going to live. A new "out of the box" s300 is about 750. So if the class is worried about expensive turbos dominating why not run a s300 "out of the box" and put a $750 buy back. I'm not a fan of the buy back but i'm willing to flex.

A true 3lm box charger has a 2.33 inlet, I think this will even up the field and make the class really competitive. The speed will stay around 17 mph and the tractors will still put on a good show. The buyout will be the only  way to police it like the speed limit  in the past. Another suggestion would be if some ones charger is bought and the owner refuses to give it up, then that person should be banned for the rest of the season. The S 300 will probably put the class to close to the pro farm class. I think Dave is on the right track. Box 3lm, 2.33 inlet, 500 dollar buyout and not allowed to pull for the rest of the season if you won't sell when protested.

The 3lm holds up well the problem is when you add big wheels and open up the inlets to get more air. I have no problems making one live ours ran all season. The rule states 2.4 and that should be all the way to compressor wheel and no changes to exhaust wheel or housing this will allow the turbo to live .I think they should be tech at the begining of each pull by a official and the pullers if they would like ,we shouldn't have anything to hide and the rest of the tractor should be tech also wheelie bars ,height and how far they are from the rear wheels etc. This class needs to stay limited so it doesn't catch up with the pro farm tractors. The speed limit does not matter to me but i believe we need to get a way to check cubic inches, that concerns me more than anything but I know that is expensive unless we can borrow one from another club?

I don't agree with doing anything with a turbo that backs up from where we are at.  It will make too many people in the class have to buy another turbo if you go to a 3lm box turbo or if you change inlet size to below 2.4 or take away anything that is legal now. If we go with something better then it would be the pullers choice to buy a new turbo or run what he has, not have to buy one because he is no longer legal.  I don't agree with a buyout of any amount because no matter what anybody says no one wants to take the turbo off their tractor at a pull or any other time unless its their own decision not because someone is making them because they think they have a better turbo.  It took years to get rid of this rule in the light class I am not interested in putting this rule in another class.

The rule should have been 2.33 because that is what a 3lm-466 is, you have to machine it to get 2.4

We need to make the class more competitive and a stock charger would be a good start sometimes the best way to fix something is to back up and correct a mistake.

The speed limit needs to go but if we don't go back on the charger we can't take it off the class is already stretched out enough it would only get worse. This is suposed to be a starter class we do not need to be faster than profarm tractors.

The 500.00 buy out helps with police(ing) and is a big deturent to cheating.

It is a whole lot cheaper for everyone to have to buy a 500.00 turbo than to open the class up more, WE ALREADY HAVE CLASSES FOR THAT THE PROFARM AND LIGHT LIMITED.

    Thanks

I think that the 3lm would make a good turboI think the buyout would keep people from changing the turboI .              the voting should be one tractor 1 vote.     Allen

To my account we have 20 members in the class. We have about half that have gone the extra mile to set up their tractor as the rules stand now. This was done to keep up with the ones that were running in the top spots every weekend. The class added the intercooler to keep up with one and added the A pump to keep up with one, that was stock on that tractor and to help or have more color in the class. Since that time, we have had major discussions on the matter. Added the rpm sensor because the RULES stated so. All this rules and added rules just to keep up with the one that has done their homework. The ones that have done that, we see them at the top week in and week out.

NOW, we have a discussion to hold them back or try to change the rules to help the tractors that are at the 5th place and down. You can not change the rules for some trying to help them cause it will help the ones at the top also. We have been there and done that.

I have talked to pullers that are at the top and in the middle and the bottom of the finish order to get a feel of what is best for the class. Yes, the same turbo off the shelf would help, but we found out a box turbo to some is not the same as to others, that why we have a casting number to go by.

Talking to some it has come up that there is a lot of hooks for the class. 25 or so last year. Way too many if you ask me, but what do you do when a promoter ask for them. You book them, that's what you do. Each year we have been blessed to have more places to pull, that comes from the pullers itself. Having a pull in their hometown. Nobody to blame at all. The hot farm is a great class of tractors. Think about this, what if the class was to break into a second class. The ones that are set in stone and like the rules that are in place now stay there and go back to the rules that were in place 4 years ago. 466 cu. in., stock pump, turbo 2.33, no intercooler, no cut tires, a set speed limit and allow open rpm. Must have all the safety equipment in place. Just how many would we have that are willing to do this? I say we would have 8 or so. Get back to a starter class.

I vote for 2 classes. There are enough hooks and tractors for two classes. There is no reason the people who did what it took to be in the front of the class should brought back. There is also no reason we can't have a class with a set of rules that got this class started. It is a lot more fun if we have 2 classes with 8 or 10 competitive tractors than 1 class of 20. The crowd dose not really know the difference from one class to the next anyway. It doesn't matter what the pullers do we only get to go 320 feet. Hotrod makes sure of that.
I personally have no interest in a buy back rule for turbos. I have never won a pull yet so I doubt anybody wants my j

Just to clarify a couple of things on the rules, the first set of rules for the turbo had the inlet size at 2.5 inches. The reason for that was because there were a couple of tractors that had 3LM chargers with inlets that size. Actually, one of the pullers at that meeting asked the question as to where they found a 3LM 466 turbo with a inlet that big. Then for whatever reason, the next year it was changed to 2.4 inches. Either way this was our first mistake, we should not have strayed from the true 3LM 466 with a 2.33 inlet size. I think a lot  of us at the meetings did not know what a true 3LM actually measured. As for the inner coolers , I don't think there was ever a rule stating that we could not use them. As for splitting the class, do we have enough tractors to support two classes? Is this dragon motorsports intent? If it is, we need to know before the meeting this weekend. There are a lot of hooks and most people find it very hard to make them all. When we meet on Sunday, do one thing, LEAVE YOUR TRACTORS AT HOME and do what's best  for the entire class.

First off if Dragon Motorsports want 2 classes they should have let this be known at the beginning of this post. Splitting the class is not a new subject it was floated around all summer. There may have been 20 some registered for the class, but if you do the math we averaged 10 hooks per pull.

Once again as in the past instead for doing what is best for the class. We want to make rules for the tractor we have now by making 2 classes, I am sure it will work as well as it did in the past.

There is a big difference between doing your home work and having a lot for money to put the best parts in your tractor. It was our thought to change one part on all the tractors (you would think we wanted people to cut their tractor in half with all this moving the class backwards talk) it was really to make the class on a more even playing field. Make the pulling more about who could set up their tractor better, closer distance between tractors and eliminate the speed limit at the same time. alot of fans and pullers are tired of it, and most have found a way around it. Despite what some people think most fans do know the difference between the tractors. Cut the cost of 700 900 1500 1800 2500 3500 dollar turbos with a 500.00 turbo charger.

As for the buy out rule its common sense no one wants to take off a turbo at 1am after a pull. (including me but if that helps keep it fair and cut inspections that no one wants to do I am for it) The only other reason left to be against a common out of the box charger buy out is YOU WANT TO CHEAT and you don`t want to lose the extra money YOU spent...... A stock from the factory 3lm 466 are all the same the reason for casting no. was everyone by that time had custom turbos.

Becky and myself have never been ones to tell people what they want to hear or be apart of click. We have made some people mad ol well and pretty sure we will do it again so here we go. The number of pulls problem can be solved by cutting out the money and just keep points charge 10 dollors insead of 20 dollars. Then people would not feel they have to go to all the pulls chasing their money. We pay 50.00 each to be members pay 10.00 each pull into a points fund we will never get back.  Next at the end of the year we are asked to pay 30.00 to go to a banquet, this after Dragon Motorsports had our class and could not pay the purse, and you can talk about sponser all you want but that sponser money should have been on top of the purse. We did not want a free trip to the banquet or a check, it was about the princpal and the way it went down and an apology a week later did not cut it sorry just being honest.

PS Pulling was meant to be fun I guess there arent enough of me (Becky)  I pull for the fun I could give 2 SH$$$ about the money.....or where i finish.  Thanks Becky

As always you know where we stand and WHO THIS IS COMING FROM NO SECRETS!!!!!

First of all there was NO DRAGON MOTORSPORTS CLASS that got paid purse both nights at the Southern Showdown. Maybe you should call me and let me in on the secrets you are talking about instead of just trying to make me look like the bad guy. I do have a telephone and I will talk to anyone about anything.
