  I am all for the Open Class. Every time we had it this year it was a huge success. WE NEED TO ALLOW ALUMINUM HEADS. The steel head rule is one of the dumbest rules we have ever enforced. It does nothing but cater to the ones who are willing to spend boat loads of money. If you have a good set of steel heads it is no disadvantage to you, that hjas been proven in the 6400 Pro Stock class. I don't think we need the nitrous in my opinion.

  I agree with you on the heads Temple.  Steel heads will make just as much or
  more power but at an unreasonable cost. I am bringing up the nitrous as a
  possibility to even the playing field for the guys that are 100-200 hp
  from the top trucks.  When the top trucks in the class are tickling (or exceeding) the 1000 hp mark it is a lot cheaper to grab a bottle than start from scratch with another engine. But then again....  Its cheaper to build power with cubic inches too.....  So it will just depend on what gets put on paper.

  I would like to know where the meeting is also. I have an aluminium headed small block and would have liked to run the altered in the past but the rule states that there is no aluminium heads

  First we have to find a place to have a meeting.  Anybody know of a place around the west end of Richmond. Looking at the next couple of Sunday afternoons. 

  Everything from here forward in this post is just an opinion. COME TO THE MEETING WHEN IT IS SCHEDULED TO WORK OUT THE ACTUAL RULES.

  Here's some things to think about:

  Everyone's always looking to make cheap Horse Power.  You are assuming of course that the guy with the 1000 hp motor isn't going to strap on the same cheap bottle and improve his truck by the same margin. If a guy is willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars to build a motor to the rules what makes you think he isn't going to take that same amount of money and build the badest thing he can build.  That is one of the fundamental issues we have now.  The class was there, several big motors blew up throughout the last couple of years and the chance was there to be legal to the class but they chose otherwise.

  Here's a few potential rules Temple had floated earlier.  22" hitch height rigid in all directions and 36% of the wheel base.  That definitely will lesson the HP to the ground but with all things there will be ways around it.

  A hitch angle limit.  Whatever degree the chain makes when brought to 22" the hitch could not be any steeper.  This would probably be somewhere around 26 degrees. Again limits HP to ground.

  One ton power train

  35X12.5 DOT approved tires

  4150 max single carb.

  I think that the hitch rules listed above will definitely make it more challenging the plant the hp.  As far as the bottles go...... 
  Yep.  Those big hp guys could strap one on too but.....  With the hitch rules listed above that big hp engine on a bottle will not have as much to gain as the lower hp engine with the bottle.  I don't want anybody to misunderstand me.  I do not have a bottle in the shop waiting to go on the truck.  And I am honestly not a fan of the stuff.  But if I could strap one on legally and see if it would close the gap I would.  Just throwing it out there to be considered as a possibility.  I honestly think the crowds would go nuts to see a truck tighten the chain and blow a purge cloud right before dropping the hammer!

  Well I definitely wouldn't mind going to the meeting. I was wondering if there was anything that could be given to a small block truck to help equal the playing field like hitch height or let the small block guys run a dominator carb.

  As for a meeting place what about Ryans in Fredericksburg Central Park 1780 Carl D Silver Pkwy Fredericksburg Va. 22401 Phone # (540)-548-0051 like last years meeting or Cracker Barrel in the short pump area. Address is 3620 Mayland ct Richmond Va 23233. Phone # 804-290-0713. It would be exit 180B off of rt 64. I called and was told they could put the group in dining room #3.   I agree with putting the meeting in the Richmond / Mechanicsville area and will plan to attend.  I would be happy to jump in and do whatever is needed to get this headed in the right direction.

  I understand the 4150 carb rule, but I think us guys with small blocks may need some help with the carb rule and possibly give us a break on the hitch height maybe 24 or something like that. I think if you allow fuel injection on a small block a dominator carb should be allowed also. Just my opinion, throwing something out there.

  So let me understand this meeting cause it sounds like ameeting of a open 62 not a tryn to save the alt st class or maybe starting a small block class. You can sit down till tuesday an you will never make a open class fair. just to much difference in trucks.Now with that said I know I dont have a truck in this matter at this time but I do want to build another one soon but if its just gonna be a open class then it wont be no time soon. I would like to see the alt street class stay make some rule changes on that or if theres no chance of that happing then maybe approch Temple with a small block class that would open it up for both sides. Just a idea I will try to make meeting Sunday depends on what I can get done Saturday an yes I know if you dont make the meeting then you just have to live with what is done

  my opinion the rest should b open if its gonna be called a open class. This way anyone can come from different places to pull. Dont matter if u got 1000 hp if u cant put it on the ground and keep your truck together. Open is open just my opinion
