A little cool for the night but it made the horsepower. Good turnout with the pullers. 19 in the open class with 14 in the national shootout.

Steve Simmons has a double bang night with the 6200 Altered class. Brings home the win and the points championship. It has been a battle with the Simmons brothers. I think Dean was the happiest. A first and second in the altered and also a first and second for the points. Then in the open class with 19 both brothers were first and second with Bob on the top spot. What a great night for this team. Congrads to this pulling team.

13 in the hot farm and the top running tractor has a double also. A win for the night and a points championship to boot. Another great group of pullers in this class. Billy Rice has the most wins for the entire DMP pullers with 15 wins out of 25 hooks for the season. Jason Housden finishes with a sixth place finish and holds on to the second place in points. Rookie puller Robert Riley with a third and finishes fourth in points. Allen Burner driving for his son Daniel with a second place and being third in the points.

19 in the open class with Bob Simmons first and Steve second. Aaron Sponaugle with a third, Burt Argenbright fourth and Brian Allen on the Mopar Magic rounding out the top five.

14 in the 8050 RWB diesels. Rookie puller John Kuykendall comes out on the top spot in the points. John has only missed one hook out of the 15 hooks. Great year for John to become the points champion. Cory Omps with the win in the class with Jevon second, Logan Armstrong on the GMC third. Matthew Clary fourth and Mark Downing fifth.

14 trucks in the 6200 National 4x4 class. Paying out the top three in the class. Winner was Jake Cramer on the Supernatural with a run of 335.41. Jake was the second puller in the class and this might have helped. Watching each truck pull it began to break loose and you could see the dirt pile up in front of the buckboard on the sled. Some chose to move around at the start line and this did help the second and third trucks alot. Peyton Davis on the Punisher was the 11th hook and finished second with a 316.09. Mr. William Omps on the Enforcer was the 9th hook in the class to be third with a run of 310.23.

I sure was looking forward to see just how many people would be at the sat. night pull. The weather called for storms and rain and we and others were hoping it would pass around and it did not. Thanks for the turnout of the pullers and sorry the way it turned out. There will always be a next year.

Sunday came and it was a great day. The antiques puled and had some pullers that just wanted some seat time. One new tractor in the 7800 LPS came out. Ted Ingram on his new ride Ford 9600 looked real good.

I have had some great times around the DMP pullers over the past years. It was a great feeling to be offered a chance to take a ride on one. Ray let me do this once and Bill Catlett offered this time. But, why do I have to pull against Hot Rod ever time. He beat me in Millers Tavern and twice in Rockville. I have looked for a weak link and can not come up with one. Fair and square he put it on me again. Me and Hemi talked and we both agree that you are the MAN.

When the pull is over and everything is packed up some tend to stop by the DMP motel just to kick back and take in a cool one and some have stayed a night or two. This time I was packed up and ready to head home and got with the Collier Pulling Team. They live just down the road from me and we all decided to stop and take in a meal at Maggiano's. I did not know you need to call ahead for seating or it just what they told us. We we were asked if we wanted to sit outside and the redneck came out of me. Sure thing i answered, just as long you walk us through the main seating area. The looks we got were priceless. Smelling of diesel fuel, one with short shorts and boots and the other with bib overalls with one shoulder strap undone and away we went. Best fun I ever had. I have not had so much fun in a long time. Not once did we talk about tractor pulling but talked about everything else. If you get a chance to be around this fine group of people you will agree. Sure wish we had a salt shaker on the table.

I believe in, what you ask for, you will receive. This comes true on what was done at Madison. When you have the right equipment the job becomes easier. When it comes to a thank you words mean more. On behalf of Dragon Motorsports, I like to say THANK YOU to the track crew at Madison. Thank you Madison Young Farmers, Superior Paving, E L Harlow, Chris Matthews and the sponsors that supported this pull. All night I was told that the "Track Conditions" were the best track to pull on.

In the early part of the day was a nice sunny day with no wind and very pleasant. Then the sun went down and the Madison cool air rolled in. This made the diesels perform on peak and it showed by the results.

15 tractors in the 12 Hot Farm. The win streak was to come to an end for the Lightsout tractor with a fourth. Allen Burner on the top spot with a win on the IH 1066. Second was Randall Young on the Ford and Robert Riley third on the John Deere. Bill Catlett rounds the top 5 in the class.

The 7800 LPS tractors had one new face in the class. Sue Johnson on the Ford. It was to be a 9 tractor class with 4 in a pulloff. Sims Pulling Team dropping out of the pulloff on the Out of the Forest Deere to get fourth. It was the three Fords to shoot it out. It was Mark Smith on the Ford 9600 with the win. Smokey Smith on the Fast Forward second and Adam Collier on the "Hookin Ain't Easy" third.

E l Harlow on the Harlow Harvester with the win in the 10 SPF. This tractor having the bugs worked out with a great run. Chad Nesselrodt on the Recap This to be second and still the point leader. Brad Gentry third with a breakage at the end of the run. It might be what has been the common problem on the diesels, a burnt piston. Line to Line Sweeney on the fourth spot and the Junk Yard Dog of Howard Meredith's fifth.

It has come to a brothers battle in the 6200 Altered class. Steve Simmons on the "Still Grumpy" with the win. Brother Bob on the "Fools Gold" on the second spot. Dwayne Griffith on the " Running Rampant" third, Blake Hawkins fourth and Gregory Griffith fifth.

The biggest excitement was in the 6400 Pro Stock 4x4 class. It was a four point difference between first place truck and the second place truck in the points chase. Tonight was true to form, come off the line and jump on the throttle and it was the Haymaker of Gerry Young to bring home the win. This makes a three in a row wins for this puller. This moves Haymaker and Seldon Seen of Kevin Schools to be a tie in points with Gerry having the advantage with the most wins. Tommy Henley jumps in between them for a second and Kevin a third. Ole Goat of Jerry Smith's to be fourth and Brad Diggs to be fifth.

Taking a look at the points just to see if there will be a down to the wire chase for the championship. Only two classes stand out and they are the 6200 Altered Street and the 6400 Pro Stock 4x4. In the other classes there will be a run but not to close to be down to the wire.

The Simmons Team with Bob And Steve will be a close one. It's all in the family for these pullers with only 4 points break between them. Three hooks left and it will be a one point difference at the end.

The most watched for me is the 6400 class. Kevin Schools has the lead with 8 points over Gerry Young. Both of these trucks have been back and forth being the points leader. I think Kevin might have found what has been causing the hard turn at his end of the run. Gerry has been working on the takeoff and just not got it down pat. Only 5 hooks left. The one I am looking at is Jerry Smith. Jerry has come back from missing the first hook of the season to be third in points now. Remember, there is a ONE drop pull. Both Schools and Young would drop 25 points. This is as low as you can get for points. Smith would drop a 0 from his missed pull. This would take Smith within 13 points behind Young as of now. Looking at the last 5 hooks with only 5 hooks left in the season, Schools has finished on average of 4th place finish. Young has finished 5th place and Smith has finished in the 3rd place. I think he will run out of pulls doing so, but it will be one heck of a show each week to see just what plays out.
