Lynchburg. Sims Farm. Amazing Pull! There seemed to be standing room only yet again. This has become one of the biggest pulls in the state of Virginia. This pull was to benefit the New London Emergency Services located just down the street. The real treat was to those in attendance.

A late add to the pull lineup was the 6400 Pro Stock boys. Tommy Henley took it home with a big run of 339.25. Dean Simmons and their team are getting closer each week. They took home second place finish with a run of 333.43. Frankie Parker rounding out the top three with a 324.76. Ed Sims mentioned he loved having these trucks. They did put on a good show.

Seventy Eight Hundred Light Pro Stocks. I was in hog heaven seeing so many in this class. I’m sure glad the medevac crew was there. I was positive I was about to pass out from excitement. Well the excitement didn’t just stop there, it continued on the track. Tim Ingram started the night out with a 322.01 and what a hook for the first one of the season. No dropping that one. Then the Corn Sniffers came to play. Steve Flint came next with his “Head Case” MX 285 and laid down a 321.75 only to be snubbed out by Paul Schrock on his IH 1066 with a big time run of 330.58. Congratulations to Tim! Welcome back. Josh Sims finished with a run of 315.71 although the crowd didn’t care, it looked like a full pull to them. Parren Bean was digging some wobbly rows and Adam fell into one of those rows. Parren was over the line, but Adam righted himself with a 315.04 and Bob Martin had a 313.04. Parren those tires did look money! Leave ‘em on there!

Mega Monsters were in the house and usually we have one run a few times, no sir, not this night. We had 3 running twice. Devan Brann and Matt Perkins had good runs. Something wasn’t going right the second time on Brann’s second pass. Lee Watts joined in on the fun as well. I can still smell the excitement.

6200 National 4x4s, need I say more. Brian Cubbage is a man on an eerie mission. After Midnight hasn’t spooked away any kids, only the competition. He took the second hook in the class and drove it some 329.29. Aaron Smothers making up for a disappointing trip to the big L last year leaving parts on the track and making it to “Hammered: Wild Rides, Bad Breaks, and Fires Volume 1” for sure. This year, he laid down a smooth 323.28. Got a candid shot of Shane Hanks telling a dad to put his kid in the driver seat of the Groundhawg in the pits. “That’s what it is all about right there!” he said. That seat put 64/100’s of an inch on Tracy Parker by driving 317.72. Tracy, 317.08

Still three in the 10,000 Super Pro Farm class. Adam Richie dropped his first hook of 293.79 only to better it by 10 feet with a 303.86. We have seen dropping the first pass, not work out lately. It worked for Adam. E L Harlow pulling one spot ahead of Chad. Same as last year. This year it held up. E L ran a 309.83 and Chad a 306.47.

12,000 Hot Farm tractors. Billy Rice took the Lights Out 313.04. Is that a typo, only 313.04, I should probably go to the eye doctor? I need a second witness. Where is Kenny Gibson! Memory serves me that these were similar to last year’s. So, Billy takes 1. Allen Burner takes 2 running 304.51 from the starting line. Bill Catlett finishes the top three with a good run of 301.88.

Alright Jevon, you asked for this write up so here it is. Compression Ignition takes home the big pay day in the 8050 Run What you Brung Diesel class. This lady says to me, do any of these come down here. I said this one right here is going to go 330. She dropped her koozie and looked at me and said, “You were right!” Jevon Luechauer, 331.10. Welcome back Greg Poore. A mighty fine run of 304.31. Justin Holdren had the third spot on lock down with a run of 300.51. His second pass, 94.37. Jason Patterson is the benefactor of that decision and result. Jason ran a 282.55. Andrew Pope, last year’s winner, just wasn’t right. He ended up with run of 25.14. Good luck next time out Andrew.

A big shout out to Bob Simmons on the big win in the 6400 Pro Street Class, if you weren't there to see it, just picture the phrase "drive it like you stole it" What a picture perfect run, in probably the toughest class of competitors in Dragon Motorsports. Steve Simmons also had a win in the Outlaw class, I believe this makes it three in a row. Going out on a limb here, but I'm pretty sure Dean was more pumped up than either one of them. Hard work does pay off!

I just got off the phone with Ed Sims at the Lynchburg Va pull. He is interested in having the 6400 class this weekend at his pull. He was real impressed with the class this weekend and wants as many as he can get for this weekend. We can not make it a points pull on this late of a notice but he is willing to pay the standard DMP purse and possibly a raised one. For those who have not been to this event , It is a excellent facility and last year they had about 4000 people there. Spread the word to the pullers and get with me if you are interested in going.

Thanks

Temple

804-514-5432

Never would have thought that having 4 inches of rain on Thursday we would have a pull on Saturday. Well we did. Wyatt and his supporters did a wonderful job to make this pull happen. Sun shining and wind blowing dried out the track. We started out with running two classes of trucks and a call was made to work the track. Within these two classes the track got dry and had a hard crust on top. With Hotrod and Earl on the job, they decided to peel off about 1 to 2 inches on top. This worked. Just removing this they uncovered a POWER track. You can not have a power track without claiming some parts on the track. This did happen, several times.
In the 7800 Light Pro Stock class, we had a new comer get his first win. Parran Bean on the ALLIS CHALMERS D-21 took home the win. (note the bold print) Adam Collier second and Steve Flint third with a jack shaft in the trans having breakage. Bob Martin on the IH not having a good night. It looked like he was having trouble in the fuel system.

6200 National 4x4 also had a first, Woody Campbell on the chevy " Intimidator" with his first win. Aaron Smothers second 7 feet behind. Then it was Leroy, Brian, Tracey and Wyatt.

Billy Rice keeps his win streak in tack with Jason second, Allen third, Chris fourth.

8 trucks in the 6200 Outlaw 4x4 class. Steve Simmons in the "Still Grumpy" flat out drove the others. Easing off the line and slowly on the throttle and to be full throttle about 200 foot mark never looked back. 19 feet that is. Aaron Sponaugle second and Brandon Maddox third. Some just having trouble getting the truck hooked. It might be good to have all those cubes in the engine but it does not help you one bit if you can't get it to the ground. Ask William, having the tires slip in the rim is not good.

I need to mention our newest member of the DMP family. Jamie (aka Pushrod) was on the sled and did a wonderful job. It is not easy to get on the "A" team without a stringent evaluation. Hotrod says he will pass with no problems.

We lost one of our pulling family member Billy "Drifter" Sisson. Billy went into have a bypass done and suffered a stroke after surgery. I only knew Drifter just a few short years. You would see him with Randy Brann most of the time. He was always quick to to pick on me while at a pull. Some would say that was how he told you he liked you.
Prayers go out to his family during this time of sorrow.
